Description : A small deciduous tree. Leaves: elliptic, oblong, ovate or ovate-oblong, nerves 10-14 pairs, strong arched. Flowers: borne in corymbose cymes, white, fragrant. Sepals acuminate. Corolla-tube slender, lobes oblong. Fruits: follicles, slender, parallel, terete, usually with long white spots. Seeds: narrowly linear-oblong, glabrous. Flowers from April-July and fruits from August-October.
 
Curated Medicinal Use / Activity : Antibiotic, useful in anaemia, colic pain, Diarrhea, haematuria, menorrhagia, obstetric conditions, spermatorrhoea, splenomegaly. Seeds: decoction beneficial in chronic dysentery and in bleeding piles. Powdered seeds mixed with honey given in chronic chest affection, asthma and colic pain. Leaves: used in chronic bronchitis. Bark: useful in colitis, stomachic and tonic.
