Description : 10-15 cm tall, Leaves opposite decussate. Flowers rose coloured in terminal spikes. Capsules globose opening by 4 valves. Erect herbs, to 15 cm high; stem reddish, 4-angled. Leaves to 8 x 6 mm, oblong-orbicular, sessile, glabrous, 5-nerved. Racemes 1-1.5 cm long, bracteoles 2 mm long, lanceolate; calyx tube 2.5 mm long, lobes triangular, acute; intersepalar appendages absent; petals 1.5 x 1 mm, obovate; filaments attached near the base of calyx tube; ovary 1 x 1 mm, obovoid, truncate, obtuse, 4-angled; style 1 mm long.
 
Curated Medicinal Use / Activity : The plant is reputed of anti-pyretic, detoxication, antiswelling and diuresis properties and also useful in treatments of cirrhosis ascetic fluids, gonorrhea, menstrual cramps and piles in the south of China.
